Support Sursum Corda with RaiseRight!

February 3, 2025 by Pastor Hendrix Leave a Comment

What is RaiseRight?
RaiseRight (formerly known as Scrip) is a gift card fundraising program that allows you to support Sursum Corda Classical School without spending any extra money. By purchasing gift cards for everyday expenses or special occasions, you earn rebates that directly benefit our school and can even offset your family’s tuition costs.

How Does It Work?

  1. Purchase gift cards through RaiseRight for groceries, gas, dining, shopping, and more.
  2. Use the gift cards like cash for your purchases.
  3. A percentage of every purchase is donated back to Faith Lutheran and Sursum Corda!

For example:

  • A $100 grocery gift card with a 4% rebate generates $4 in funds.
  • A $50 dining gift card with a 10% rebate earns $5.

Reimbursement Sharing
We’re excited to offer a 50/50 split for the rebates you generate:

  • 50% of your earned rebates are credited directly towards your student’s tuition (or a student of your choice).
  • 50% supports Faith Lutheran and Sursum Corda’s mission and programs.

Why Participate in RaiseRight?

  • No additional cost to you: Fundraise while spending money you already plan to spend.
  • Flexibility: Choose from over 750 brands, including e-gift cards, reloadable cards, and physical cards.
  • Big Impact: If just 10 families regularly participate, we could raise thousands of dollars annually for our school and church programs.

Where Do the Funds Go?
Proceeds from RaiseRight help support critical initiatives, including:

  • Tuition assistance for families.
  • Classroom resources and school facility upgrades.
  • Ministry programs and outreach efforts.

How to Get Started

  1. Create an Account:
Download the RaiseRight app or visit RaiseRight.com and use the enrollment code K4545NSBKTGW to get started.
  2. Shop and Earn:
Choose from e-gift cards, reloadable cards, or physical gift cards.
  3. Pay Your Way:
    • Online via a linked bank account (a $0.29 transaction fee applies).
    • Online via credit or debit card (additional fees apply).
    • By check to Faith Lutheran (drop it off at the church).
  4. Get Your Cards:
    • E-gift cards are available instantly.
    • Physical cards are ordered monthly and available for pick-up at the church.

If I Only Had a Heart…

March 23, 2024 by Pastor Hendrix Leave a Comment

“If I only had a heart” –> “Lift up your hearts!”

March 21, 2017 was when the refurbishment began to restore Oregon’s water tower, nicknamed the “Tin Man.” It was like it was given a new life, maybe even a new heart.

When we leave school from Sursum Corda, I find it appropriate that as we walk up the stairs, we look up and see the Tin Man directly in view.

Its namesake, the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz lamented “If I only had a heart…” In the end, he found what was missing. At Sursum Corda, we aim to give students that which is missing. We seek to “lift up students hearts,” to fill their education not merely with facts or ideology, but with truth, goodness, and beauty. In other words, the stuff of the heart.

These come from outside of us, for inside of us cold and empty like the Tin Man. It is God who gives us a new heart. From Him we learn to appreciate what is good, true, and beautiful, and in response to be creators ourselves of that which is good, true, and beautiful in the world.

In the words of the Tin Man from the classic book, “I have no heart, and so I must be very careful. I had brains, and a heart also; so, having tried them both, I should much rather have a heart.”

Informational Meeting & Dinner

January 17, 2024 by Pastor Hendrix Leave a Comment

Come learn about us on Sunday, February 4 at 4pm!

Register for the Presentation & Meal Here!

We’re opening a new school in Oregon,WI! Our goal is to create an education to “lift up hearts” (sursum corda in Latin). We are looking for families to be a part of the first core group and cohort for the school, as well as patrons who want to provide more opportunities for Christian education for youth.

Hear from our Headmaster, Pastor Jeff Hendrix, who will share the philosophy behind classical education, what it means for students to be free to discover what is true, good, and beautiful, and what motivates us to involve parents in their children’s education. Some general information on the school will be shared as well.

A classically-centered program for children in K-3 will be offered during the presentation. A free meal (sloppy joes and mac & cheese) will be provided!

Interested in the school for your kids? Come and meet some other families.

Interested in supporting our school? Come and learn ways you can support opening a classical Christian school in Oregon!

Register here! (Not required for attendance, but helps us plan for food and the children’s program)
